September 8, 2021 General Director of NIIKPU N.V. Vezirov took part in the panel session "Commercial vehicles running on gas engine fuel", which took place in the framework of COMTRANS, the largest automotive exhibition in Russia and Eastern Europe.

The session was organized by the National NGV Association.

During his speech, Niyaz Vezirov spoke about the prospects and barriers to the development of liquefied natural gas as a gas engine fuel in Russia: “Small-scale LNG projects are playing an increasing role in the development of the Russian gas industry. In recent years, several units have been put into operation in a number of regions of the country, in particular, LPG in the village of Kanyusyata, Perm Territory (Gazprom LNG Technologies LLC), PJSC NOVATEK launched the first low-tonnage LNG plant in Magnitogorsk, etc.

Dozens of new projects have been announced. According to experts' forecast, the total output of small-scale plants by 2030 will reach almost 4.5 million tons and will amount to 3% of the total LNG production in Russia.

The total potential demand for liquefied natural gas in the NGV segment is estimated at 5.5 million tonnes by 2035 (up to 0.8 million tonnes by 2024), and the main share is accounted for by long-haul commercial transportation (up to 1.5 million tons) ".

Among the speakers were Yevgeny Pronin, Director for Gas Engine Technology at KAMAZ PTC, and Nikolay Gratsko, Deputy General Director for Commercial Issues at Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo LLC.

The moderator was Vasily Zinin, Executive Director of the National NGV Association.
