NIIKPU has implemented a project of comprehensive pre-investment studies in the field of sales of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the needs of the household sector, industrial enterprises and as a gas engine fuel in the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation.

Within the framework of the Project, the Institute performed the following series of expert and analytical works:

  • analysis of the balance of consumption by energy carriers (coal, firewood, oil products, etc.) in the gravitational zone of the Project;
  • analysis of the current consumption of LPG, natural gas and coal gas in the gravity zone of the Project, in order to determine the potential volumes of LPG consumption for the needs of households and industrial enterprises;
  • identification of potential LPG producers in a number of federal districts of the Russian Federation, analysis of gas production volumes for supplies to the domestic market of the Russian Federation;
  • analysis of LPG consumption volumes in the Russian Federation by consumption segments (for the needs of households, for the needs of industrial enterprises, as a gas engine fuel);
  • identification and localization of promising anchor consumers of LPG in the gravity zone of the Project;
  • assessment of potential (prospective) volumes of LPG consumption in the gravitational zone of the Project;
  • assessment of the need for a sales infrastructure for the autonomous gasification of the population in the Project's gravity zone;
  • an assessment of the need for a sales infrastructure for organizing retail trade of LPG through a network of filling stations, points for storage and exchange of cylinders, service centers for converting personal vehicles to LPG in the Project's gravity zone.

Let us remind that at the moment there are more than 25 projects in the fuel and energy complex in the NIIKPU portfolio. Based on the accumulated experience, the Institute is expanding its competencies and is working on new initiatives to develop the NGV market in the Russian Federation.
