On September 12, the Institute’s specialists took part in the next meeting of the working group on creating conditions for the development of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry of the RF CCI Committee on Energy Strategy and Fuel and Energy Complex Development.

The meeting participants, among which were Shmal G.I. (President of the Union of Oil and Gas Industrialists of Russia), D. Chugunov (NES Energy Center in Skolkovo), Ter-Oganov K.G. (Member of the Board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs), as well as representatives of development companies, discussed alternative energy sources, including the hydrogen energy market, its current state and development paths in relation to Russia.

All over the world, unprecedented dynamics are observed with respect to hydrogen, which has great potential for use in the field of clean energy production.

A separate block during the meeting of the working group considered the issue of scientific and technical developments in the field of hydrogen energy. In particular, hydrogen power plants based on fuel cells were presented (Mikhail Kasatkin, TsNII SET FSUE Krylovsky State Scientific Center), fuel cells for unmanned platforms and autonomous energy sources (Alexey Shubenkov, BMPower), hydrogen storage and transportation systems ( Nikolai Shaulsky, VITKOVICE RUS LLC), the possibilities of using atomic energy for hydrogen production (Anton Moskvin, JSC Rusatom Overseas) and others.

During the meeting, the participants discussed their readiness for a large-scale energy transfer in terms of scientific and technical developments, restructuring of industry and infrastructure, and also noted the importance of developing a system of state support for projects in the field of hydrogen energy.

The Institute fully shares the opinion of the meeting participants regarding the need to ensure the energy security of Russia and is currently implementing a number of projects in the energy sector, including the use of LNG as a motor fuel and as an energy carrier for autonomous heat generation, and is also actively working in the field innovative entrepreneurship in the framework of creating new socially oriented businesses that meet the requirements of sustainable development, zero harmful emissions and aimed at improving living conditions of the population, such as emergency pickets in remote areas and along difficult sections of highways, autonomous systems for providing critical infrastructure with energy, and others.
